my marketing professor has presented us with a project that is to explore and create our ideal brand - one that would be feasible and hopefully one that would be successful and have the potential to grow. with that in mind i have always had a love for craftsmanship but with the blur of a world that we live in now, the sense of value for a skill very few have is not necessarily understood and/or appreciated.

  • how can a brand that values craftsmanship, sustain itself as well as potentially contribute to society and it’s country of origin’s economy?
  • what can we do to allow for these men and women of skill to continue doing what they do without undermining their true worth?
  • will we as a capitalist society be able to keep these artforms alive? or will we just continue to create and discard our people as if they are the material objects we once owned?

these type of questions posed along with stories like peter frew’s make it difficult to find it possible. but i haven’t lost hope… and  maybe it will start with this project.
